Do something amazing for young people leaving care. Whether you run a half marathon, host a coffee morning, take on a personal challenge or bring people together for something completely your own, your fundraising can help young people feel prepared, connected and proud of the home and future they are building.

Last year, NHP supporters raised more than £12,000 to help young people leaving care across the UK access practical support, build confidence and take their next steps towards independence.

Why your fundraising matters

Local House Projects give young people the space, support and encouragement to practise independence, build trusted relationships and feel proud of the homes and futures they are creating.

Young people describe Local House Projects as a place where they can feel supported, build confidence and begin to imagine a positive future:

"It is a starting point for a brilliant future. Everyone is family and they support each other. They teach life skills to be able to be independent and move into your own place.. It has helped me so much - I can speak more, I’m not bottling it up. It’s putting warmth around the process of leaving care."

Support Our Work

Choose the fundraising goal that feels right for you. Whatever you’re able to raise your support helps young people access practical opportunities, trusted relationships and the confidence to take their next steps.

Please note that your donations will help us support young people leaving care across our community. This includes:

  • Supporting young people through a certificated learning programme - the House Project Programme – to enable them to move into their own home and be work ready
  • Supporting young people to set up their own home with a £200 voucher towards a white good; introductory fuel vouchers; or discounts on furniture
  • Enabling young people to pursue their dreams or start a career with an Aspirational Award
  • Enabling young people to take an active role to inform / change the system that supports them
  • Supporting young people to lead and organise the Care Leavers National Movement conference annually

Every donation matters. Your fundraising helps us respond flexibly to what young people need most, from practical support when setting up home to opportunities that build confidence, independence and connection.

Big or small - every idea counts

Fundraising can be as big, bold, simple or personal as you like. You could take on a running challenge, organise a quiz night, hold a cake sale, mark a birthday with donations, set up a workplace challenge or create something completely new. Whatever your idea, we would love to help you bring it to life.

Eoin's Story

When Eoin took on the Chester Marathon, he wanted to give something back after learning about the work of The National House Project.

His determination raised over £1,000, and thanks to his employer, Toyota, matching his fundraising, the total reached £2,000.

Eoin's challenge shows how one person's commitment can make a real difference, helping us continue to support young people leaving care to live independently and thrive.

Joshua and Chip

Joshua from Reconomy and Chip from Softcat showed how taking on a personal challenge can make a real difference. They completed the Chester Half Marathon and the Great Manchester Run just two weeks apart in support of The National House Project.

Their determination saw them achieve two personal bests and raise over £360! We're incredibly grateful to Joshua and Chip for inspiring others to get involved.

Joshua commented:

"I chose to fundraise for The National House Project after I attended a webinar at my workplace, Reconomy. I got a glimpse of the amazing work NHP do behind the scenes. Caring for young people and enabling them to have their own independence is a fantastic cause and this felt like a great opportunity to raise additional funds."

Rosie, Isla and Frankie

Rosie and daughters Isla, 10, and Frankie, 7, wanted to do something special to support The National House Project, so they put their baking skills to work! The family made Christmas biscuits and mince pies to sell at their village Christmas carol concert in Yarnfield.

They were joined by lots of other children from the village who helped make the festive fundraiser a real community effort.

Together, the children raised around £100 to support young people leaving care to live independently and thrive. Their generosity shows that you don’t have to take on a huge challenge to make a difference. Sometimes a little creativity, teamwork and a lot of Christmas spirit can go a long way.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid can make your donation go further at no extra cost to you. For every £1 you give, NHP can claim an additional 25p from HMRC, helping your support have even more impact for young people.

We use donations carefully to support young people through Local House Projects and the wider NHP community. Your gift helps fund practical support, learning opportunities, leadership activities and the resources young people need as they prepare for independent living.
