Going the Distance: Our Partnership with Reconomy
Posted 5th August 2026
Reconomy's partnership demonstrates how businesses can create impact in multiple ways - from fundraising and employee volunteering to skills-based mentoring, employability programmes and strategic investment. Reconomy became our first corporate partner in 2018, and together we've built a long-term partnership that demonstrates what's possible when a business commits to creating lasting social impact to enable young people to live connected and fulfilling lives.
This year, over 80 members of the Reconomy team registered to take part in 10k and Half Marathon events in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle and Portsmouth. So far in 2026, Reconomy has raised more than £1,600 for NHP, helping us to continue supporting care experienced young people as they make the transition to independent living. Every donation helps us continue building our network of Local House Projects, empowering young people with the skills, confidence and support they need to build successful futures.

Fundraising events also bring colleagues together around a shared purpose, promoting teamwork and wellbeing whilst strengthening employee engagement and delivering measurable social impact. We're incredibly grateful to everyone at Reconomy who took part in the events, donated, volunteered or supported the team along the way. Their enthusiasm and commitment demonstrate the difference that can be made when organisations work together to create lasting change.
Dave Reynolds, Head of Corporate Marketing at Reconomy, commented:
“What began in 2023 as a small group of colleagues using a half marathon to fundraise for the National House Project, has grown into something very special. Reconomy Runners have now raised more than £6,000 for NHP, while bringing together colleagues from across our business, creating new friendships, supporting wellbeing, and inspiring more people than ever to get involved.”
As well as raising vital funds, Reconomy has supported National House Project through employability initiatives, mentoring and practical support for young people leaving care. Additionally, Reconomy donated £2,000 towards our White Goods Fund this year which means at least 10 young people moving into their first home can access essential appliances - helping them establish a safe, stable home at one of the most important moments in their lives. Diane Crowe, Group Sustainability Director, added:
“When Reconomy started our relationship with the NHP we wanted it to be a partnership of equals. It has always been our intention to generate real social value for Reconomy and NHP. The fantastic advantage of working with the NHP and the Wolverhampton and Coventry LHP is that we get the chance to support the charity in very practical ways. For example, we have directly supported young people at the Care Leavers National Movement Conference, working with young people to co-produce their stall. Our volunteers have also helped to paint new homes and put together home welcome boxes for young people. It is always wonderful to have the opportunity to see the young people grow and thrive through the NHP by attending business network events, conferences and cohort graduations.”
Partnerships like this show what's possible when organisations share a commitment to improving young people's lives. Whether your business is looking to engage employees, deliver ESG commitments, develop volunteering opportunities or create lasting social impact, we'd love to explore a partnership that works for your organisation and changes the lives of the young people we support. There’s no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to our partnerships, and we’re proud to offer bespoke and collaborative opportunities to achieve our shared goals.
