NHP and LHPs have developed a number of partnerships with companies and charities across the UK to support our community of young people. This page will help you to keep up to date with all current opportunities available for your projects and young people to access.

Basic Skills Learning
HomeServeHomeServe have gas and plumbing engineers across the country who could help with basic skills training (so young people know what to look out for and when to get help if something looks unsafe), as well as practical support once young people have moved in to their homes (or possibly need help fitting washing machines, with plumbing or gas cookers).

Let's Talk Energy Fund
CharisYoung people moving into their own properties (in England and Scotland) may be eligible to apply for the Let’s Talk Energy Fund where they can apply for up to two appliances: Fridge-Freezers, Fridges, Freezers, Electric Cookers, Gas Cookers, Washing Machines, Washer-Dryers or Tumble Dryers.
They would be eligible if:
- Be in receipt of means-tested benefits or have a gross annual household income below £20,328.
- Not already have the type of appliance you’re applying for, or have an existing appliance that’s more than 8 years old or broken.

This is in addition to NHP's offer of up to £200 on a white good.

Discounted White Goods
Renew2U / GapRenewOur partnership with Renew2U enables young people to purchase refurbished/returned white goods from their online platform at significantly reduced costs, with a further 5% discount added. This includes cookers, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washing machines and microwaves. They won’t install it, but delivery is free.
NHP also funds up to £200 towards the cost of one white good for each young person moving into their home. Although NHP only funds one item up to £200, young people can purchase as many items from the Gap Renew website as they like.
(Please note, this 5% offer from Gap Renew is available to all care-leavers in your council.)

Construction Careers Bursary
WienerbergerWienerberger provide a Construction Careers Bursary to support young people starting careers in the construction industry.
The fund supports access to construction and trades opportunities, including CSCS cards, engineering, bricklaying or plumbing courses, work tools or clothing, and course or cost of living fees.
This bursary is open for applications all year round.
Aspirational Awards
National House ProjectThe Aspirational Awards help young people achieve an ambition, dream or business start-up that will have a lasting impact on their lives.
Awards can support activities such as accessing a training course, setting up a business or developing a sporting interest. The opportunity is open to anyone who has completed units within the House Project Programme and is living in their own home.
To apply, a young person should speak with their LHP Facilitator and have a clear plan in mind. They should then complete the application form and send it to enquiries@thehouseproject.org.
Applications are considered by a panel made up of NHP staff, partners and young people. Applicants will receive a letter confirming the outcome and, if unsuccessful, an explanation will be provided.

Workplace Visits
WienerbergerWienerberger have sites across the UK where they can offer workplace visits and work experience opportunities.
Opportunities include:
- Factory visits at Denton (Greater Manchester), Ewhurst (Surrey), Kingsbury (North Warwickshire), Sandown (West Midlands), Waresley (Worcestershire) and Warnham (West Sussex).
- Office-based work experience opportunities in Cheadle and Sale.
- Visits to Sandtoft (South Yorkshire), including their factory and apprenticeship centre.
- Practical sessions such as bricklaying activities with their technical team in Stoke.

Corporate PartnersWork experience opportunities are currently offered by Reconomy, GES, Valpak, Equans, GMI Construction, HomeServe and Donald Insall.

Volunteer Support
HomeServeHomeServe have staff across the UK and has offered volunteers to support with DIY or gardening projects at your House Project base or at young people's homes once they have moved in.

Smart Clothing for Interviews and Work
Suited & BootedThrough our partnership with Suited & Booted, young people in your LHP can arrange a visit (individually or as a group) to receive a smart outfit for interviews or starting a new job.

Interview Clothing and Support
SmartWorksSmartWorks provide unemployed women or women on zero-hour contracts with an interview coming up with appropriate clothing, interview preparation, coaching and a capsule wardrobe until their first pay date if they secure the job.
SmartWorks has centres in Birmingham, Stockport, Manchester City Centre, Croydon, Islington, Edinburgh and Glasgow, and can also provide virtual services. This offer is open to all LHPs to visit a local centre.
Additional offers:
SmartWorks Birmingham has additional funding to support unemployed women or women on zero-hour contracts who do not currently have an interview.
SmartWorks Croydon and Islington now provide a care leaver offer, allowing young women to access support before an interview.

Moving Bags
MadlugEvery young person who is about to move can receive a Madlug bag to move with and keep.
Bags are sent in bulk to each LHP. If you need a new pack of bags, please contact your Practice Lead or Amber@thehouseproject.org to place an order.

Period Power (West Midlands only)Our partnership with Period Power means you can order sanitary packs for your project as needed

Quilts for Care Leavers
Q4CLEvery young person who is about to move into their own home can choose a quilt to keep.
Quilts are provided in bulk to each House Project, allowing young people to choose one as they move. This offer is open to all LHPs once an agreement with Q4CL is signed.

B&Q Materials
NeighbourlyWest Sussex Local House Project have recently used Neighbourly to register interest in and collect unused or returned paints from B&Q for their young people.
We recommend creating an account with Neighbourly to access this and other opportunities from local businesses in your area.
Free Paint
Johnstones & DuluxSome House Projects have found that Johnstones and Dulux stores or trade counters are often able to provide free paint that has been returned, partially used or mixed incorrectly.
Libraries of Things
Share Shed & Libraries of ThingsRent, hire, borrow and share useful household tools and equipment that you may only need occasionally, for example when a young person moves into their home.

WavelengthYou can apply for tablet or TV donations from Wavelength here. Please let us know if you’re planning to do this or need support.

Free Mobile Data
Good Things FoundationYour LHP and/or local authority can become a HUB to access free WiFi (via SIMs) for young people for up to 12 months.
Social Tariff Broadband
Broadband ProvidersSome broadband providers offer social tariffs at more affordable prices and with shorter contracts, specifically for care leavers or people receiving certain benefits.
Information about available social tariffs can be found through the relevant providers.

University Scholarships
Unite FoundationUnite Foundation provides scholarships for care leavers under 25 starting at selected universities.
The scholarship provides free accommodation for up to three years while the young person is at university. To date, over 800 estranged and care-experienced young people have attended university through the Unite Foundation scholarship.

AI Courses
Amazon Free AI CoursesA range of opportunities are available for young people interested in careers in artificial intelligence and technology.

Starter Packs
AsdaThe local Asda store in Walsall has offered to support their LHP with small starter packs for young people, including items such as blankets, plates, cutlery and food.
It may be worth approaching Asda and other local stores to explore opportunities for partnerships or donations.
